one year

Eamon is one! His birthday was two days ago and we celebrated with family the night before his birthday.

Andrew was lovely and took care of Eamon so I didn't have to deal with him underfoot while I made his cake and several dozen cupcakes. Stupidly, I still spaced adding any baking soda to the first batch. I was frustrated, but pressed on and made a few more batches. It's hard to bake with a lot of noise and people. But I am spoiled because I got to use two ovens. So luxurious.

We had a matching game with pictures of Eamon from almost every month. Everyone had to match the month with the picture: not an easy game. I even had to double-check my key for the five and six month pictures.

After that little game, we did a spin on a Korean tradition. We placed several of Eamon's favorite objects on the floor and had him select one to tell his fortune. The objects and what we said they meant were as follows:
  • whistle: musically inclined
  • telephone: gregarious and a socialite
  • book: intelligent, scholarly, and bookish
  • goggles: athletic
  • stethoscope: doctor
  • play pizza: foodie and/or chef

And what did Eamon choose? He went straight for the book, one of his favorites, Who's House is This? We even gave him some extra time to see if he'd go for something else, but he stuck with the book. We'll see how intelligent he really becomes.

Then he got spoiled. He got oodles and oodles of presents from everyone. He had a lot of help from me in unwrapping the presents, but he really didn't do too badly of a job. It was good practice for Christmas unwrapping. Mostly, he kept clapping and looking around at everyone for approval and attention--such a ham.

After opening all the presents, we sang to him and I ended up blowing out his candle. I thought he would be able to do it since he can whistle and has been practicing blowing kisses, but no luck. All he wanted to do was touch the candle.

Caketime: he loved filling his fingers with frosting. Some of it got all the way to his mouth, but not tons. He had fun flinging it all around.

The rest of the party for Eamon consisted of following Finley around and giving him loves. Eamon could be a professional loves giver. He seriously has talent. He gives love pats and kisses. So sweet.

It was a great day and a fun night. We are so blessed for all the love and support we receive from all our family members. Our baby is one and we're still alive and we love him more than ever.

The pictures are out of any sort of order I'd like, but no more fussing. Here they are:

Eamon giving loves.
(Or is he practicing giving a blessing? Haha.)

More loves.

Holding his birthday balloon from G and G Clyde.

The cake.

The cupcakes.

Having fun making a mess, like always.
